Salt & Light Academy Summer Program Waiver & Policies

Please read carefully. Participation in this program requires agreement to the policies outlined below.

Agritourism Notice (Texas Law)

Important Notice:
Under Texas Law (Chapter 75A, Civil Practice and Remedies Code), an agritourism entity is not liable for injury to or death of an agritourism participant resulting from an agritourism activity. Texas Civil Practice & Remedies Code Sec. 75A.003.

Program Environment

Salt & Light Academy programs take place on a working farm and outdoor learning environment at Honey B’s Farm. Our goal is to provide meaningful hands-on experiences that allow children to learn, explore, and enjoy nature.

Because these activities take place outdoors and around animals, participation involves certain natural risks.

While safety and supervision are a priority, some risks cannot be completely eliminated.

Assumption of Risk

By registering your child, you understand that participation may include activities such as:

• interacting with farm animals
• walking or playing on uneven terrain
• outdoor games and group activities
• exposure to weather conditions
• contact with natural elements such as plants, hay, dust, insects, or pollen

Parents acknowledge that participation in outdoor and agricultural environments involves inherent risks and voluntarily accept those risks.

Animal Interaction

Participants may observe or interact with animals that are part of the farm environment.

Animals can sometimes behave unpredictably despite proper care and supervision.

Parents acknowledge that participation may include contact with animals such as livestock or poultry and accept the potential risks associated with animal interaction, including minor scratches, bites, or incidental contact.

Environmental Exposure & Allergies

Because activities take place outdoors, participants may encounter natural environmental elements including:

• insects or bee stings
• plants or grasses
• hay, dust, or pollen
• changing weather conditions

Parents are responsible for informing Salt & Light Academy of any known allergies, medical conditions, or health concerns during registration.

Program Participation Requirements

To ensure a safe and positive experience for all participants, this program is designed for children who are able to participate in a general group environment with standard supervision.

At this time, Salt & Light Academy is not able to provide specialized services, one-on-one support, or medical accommodations beyond general supervision.

If a child requires specialized academic, behavioral, or medical support to participate safely, this program may not be the best fit.

Salt & Light Academy reserves the right to decline or discontinue participation if a child’s needs require a level of supervision or care that the program is not equipped to provide.

Medical Authorization

In the event of illness or injury, program staff have permission to obtain emergency medical care for my child if I cannot be reached immediately.

Parents understand they are responsible for any medical costs that may arise from treatment.

Weather & Program Adjustments

Many program activities take place outdoors.

In the event of severe weather or other safety concerns, Salt & Light Academy may adjust the schedule, modify activities, or move portions of the program indoors when possible.

If Salt & Light Academy must cancel a session due to weather, staffing, or unforeseen circumstances, families may be offered a rescheduled date or refund.

Registration & Refund Policy

Program spots are limited.

Full payment is required at the time of registration to reserve a spot.
Registrations are non-refundable once completed.

Because staffing, materials, and planning are arranged based on enrollment, we are unable to issue refunds for cancellations or schedule conflicts.

Behavior Expectations

To ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants:

• Children are expected to follow directions from program leaders.
• Respectful behavior toward other participants, staff, and animals is required.

If a child’s behavior creates a safety concern or repeatedly disrupts the program, Salt & Light Academy reserves the right to dismiss the participant. In such cases, no refund will be issued.

Hold Harmless Agreement

By registering my child, I agree to release and hold harmless Salt & Light Academy, Honey B’s Farm, their owners, employees, volunteers, and contractors from liability for injury, illness, loss, or damage resulting from participation in program activities.

This release does not apply in cases of gross negligence or intentional misconduct.

By completing registration and typing my name during the booking process, I confirm that:

• I have read and understand these policies
• I accept the risks associated with participation
• I agree to the terms outlined above
• I release Salt & Light Academy and Honey B’s Farm from liability as described

Typing my name during registration constitutes my legal electronic signature.
